
My Skills
With more than 20 years of experience in different roles around media relations and communications, the range of my experience is broad. I have always been someone to seek out new and interesting opportunities and learn new skills. In many cases, this has expanded the parameters of my role.

Global Media Strategy
At Software AG I led on global media strategy creation, using my own Re:Di methodology. We increased brand visibility through 15% increase in 'Top Stories' and 5% growth in share of voice.
At Accenture, UK media strategy increased tier-one media coverage to 23% of total (from <10%) through journalist relationships and data-led commentary.

Corporate Comms
At Software AG I led the comms for the acquisition of StreaSets in 2022 (internal and external). I also managed the integrated newsroom planning process across all areas of the comms team.
In all of my roles I have managed a matrixed environment of multiple business units. In Software AG and Accenture, they were business units/practices. In agency, I had as many as 11 clients at one time.

Team Management
At Software AG I managed a network of PR agencies, across UK, US, Germany, France and Middle East (KSA and UAE). I designed clear messaging and reporting frameworks to ensure consistency across all regions. I also managed two people directly (internally).
At Accenture, I managed the UK media agency. I also line managed two people, guiding them to multiple promotions.

Event Management
At Accenture I was part of the core organising team for the Kaleidoscope event, which attracted more than 1,000 clients and partners. I was involved in messaging, venue and speech writing.
In all of my roles I have been involved in running media events and press programmes, including Software AG IUG, Salesforce Cloudforce and Splunk .conf.

Executive Counsel
At Software AG, Accenture and with clients at Lewis, I have advised senior leaders on messaging, content and communication strategy. I have also done copy writing and speech writing on behalf of these spokespeople. The outcome has been profiling in Forbes, Fortune, The Times, Sky News, CNBC and more.

Analytics and ROI
Developed a 3-tiered performance-context-value framework for reporting comms activity to management teams and other senior stakeholders.
Used Google dashboards and Power BI to present results in easily processed formats.

Social Media
Managed the organic elements of the corporate LinkedIn channel at Software AG and increased engagement by 3%.
Have helped to manage individual profiles for spokespeople, increasing engagement and SSI metrics.

Thought Leadership
In all my roles I have developed thought leadership content. This includes research-based campaign content, articles and bylines, as well as creative pitch angles to support core messages. More details on some of this content is in my portfolios section.

Crisis Communications
At Software AG, I took the lead on working with executives on crisis communications. This included a strategy that limited negative coverage of a serious ransomeware attack to 2% of all coverage.
At Accenture I worked closely with the crisis comms team and did a lot of the frontline spokesperson work with journalists to minimise the disruption from crisis and/or rumours.

Media Training
I designed the media training for Software AG spokespeople. This included training on the role of media relations, how journalists operate as well as how to make media engagements successful.
I delivered training to Software AG spokespeople and supported the training of Accenture spokespeople.

PR, AR, IR, GR
Building journalist relationships was my first start in comms and I do so through an open interaction.
Working with influencers at Software AG I increased our social media performance (12x views, 6x engagement). At Accenture I helped built out a book launch event for our CTO.
I managed non-German financial comms for Software AG, including with CNBC and Bloomberg. At Accenture I supported with public policy briefings, working with the Gov Relations team.

Budgeting and Forecasting
At Software AG I looked after our external comms budget of half a million Euro, covering agency support, sponsored content and influencer relationships.
At Lewis I was responsible for resource planning and forecasting for our tech team.
